What does Kainos mean?
Kainos is an ancient Greek word meaning “new,” but more specifically it speaks of renewal and restoration—values that lie at the heart of Project Kainos.
Our Mission
We live in a world where people who have been unemployed for a long time often face significant barriers when trying to return to work. Many employers are hesitant to take a chance on individuals with gaps in their employment history, making it difficult for them to rebuild confidence and gain new opportunities. At Project Kainos, we provide a supportive environment for our volunteers to develop practical skills, regain routine, and restore self-belief by helping grow fresh fruit and vegetables. By offering hands-on experience and a pathway back into employment, we aim to break this cycle and help individuals take meaningful steps toward a more secure future.
The Project
We’re working on a long-disused farm where nature has taken over, leaving the land and greenhouses overgrown and in disrepair. Renting part of the site, including two large greenhouses with room to expand into surrounding fields, our aim is to transform it into low-impact, sustainable growing spaces that can be replicated on a small scale at home. For now, our focus is on clearing the area and creating a functional break room for volunteers.
